Wine, regardless of price, is something to share with friends, ease the daily grind, and make life more enjoyable. Red Slate provides an ideal location to taste quality wine, learn about its history, buy a few bottles, or host a private party.
Here at Red Slate we like to get to know our clients and their palates. We tend to custom order wine rather than stocking a large inventory. We believe in finding the best wine for you, not just selling excess inventory. Please contact us about any specific wines you’re searching for or if you would like our assistance selecting wines for your personal collection.

Aug 22 Fizzy Lifting Drink 6:30pm – A little fizz makes everything better. Come out and enjoy a guided tour of the world of sparkling wines! You’ll get to taste 7 sparkling wines from around the world including Champagne, Prosecco, Lambrusco, Cava, and more. $30/person includes 1.5 hour class with 7 wines. Reservations required.
Sept 5 Grande Marque Comparison 6:30pm – I love tasting wine side by side, and something I’ve been wanting to do again is taste many of the well known Champagne houses next to each other. We’ll taste the following 8 champagnes in 2 flights – Perrier Jouet, Taittinger, Billecart, Moet & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Louis Roederer, Pol Roger, and Bollinger. $50 to enjoy all 8 wines along with a discussion of styles and wine making practices. Reservations required.
Oct 10th – Aged Oregon – 6:30pm I’ve been collecting Oregon wines since I arrived in Portland in 2002. I’m excited to knock the dust of some of these bottles, pull the corks and see what Oregon tastes like with 5-10+ years of age. We’ll taste wines from Domaine Drouhin, St. Innocent, Sineann, Brooks, and more TBA. Price will be between $50-75 per person depending on the wines. You’ll enjoy minimum of 5 wines. This tasting is limited to 12 guests. Reservations required.
Oct 24th –Cellar Dive with Dave – 6:30pm – I have a pile of cool stuff in my cellar, and I’ve been wanting to pull some corks. Details TBA but we’ll taste at least 7 wines from around the world, some with decades of age. $100 per person, limited to 12 guests. Reservations required.
Nov 7th – Big Reds – 6:30pm – I know many of you love big red wines, and I feel like I’ve been ignoring you a bit recently. Its time to fix this, join me to experience old favorites and new friends that will satisfy your cravings for tannin and flavor! $45/person includes 1.5 hour class with 7 wines. Reservations required.
Nov 14st – Prestige Champagne – 6:30pm – So many of you have wanted to attend this tasting in the past, but couldn’t because December is too hectic. Here’s your chance now that its in November! We’ll enjoy 8 of the best champagnes poured in 2 flights. Details TBD but we’ll certainly taste Dom Perignon, Krug, and 6 more! You’ll enjoy 2 ounce pours of all the wines in a relaxed environment. Cost TBD, but figure $125+
