Welcome to Red Slate Wine Company
Wine, regardless of price, is something to share with friends, ease the daily grind, and make life more enjoyable. Red Slate provides an ideal location to taste quality wine, learn about its history, buy a few bottles, or host a private party.
Here at Red Slate we like to get to know our clients and their palates. We tend to custom order wine rather than stocking a large inventory. We believe in finding the best wine for you, not just selling excess inventory. Please contact us about any specific wines you’re searching for or if you would like our assistance selecting wines for your personal collection.

Weekly Wine Deal

Every week (or so) David will select a wine that he’s especially excited about. If you’d like to purchase this week’s deal, please get in touch:
Tour Boisee “Plantation 1905” 2011 $15 – This organic winery is located in Minverois in Southern France near the Rhone valley. This wine comes from a single vineyard planted in 1905, with 23 different grape varieties! Some of them are familiar like Grenche and Carignan, but some are obscure, and the winery can’t even figure out what 4 of them are. Long story short, here’s a wine made from incredibly old vines with a big field blend of grapes that’s absolutely delightful. Even more so when you consider the price!
For those of you that like flavor descriptors this wine was vibrant and spicy with lots of red fruit and pomegranate tones. Super fascinating while being very drinkable. Pick some up for parties or dinner as its great with food or on its own.
Latest Wine Classes and Tasting:
Please call 503.232.3867 or email info@redslatewine.com for reservations on any of the classes below.
May 3 Grower Cava 6:30pm - Outside of Champagne I can think of only a
few sparkling wine regions that produce wines with a definite style.
Often times sparkling wines are a hodgepodge, but Cava in Spain
consistently produces wines with distinct flavors and characteristics.
Unfortunately many large Cava houses just pump out plonk and we don’t
get to taste the good stuff. Join us for a fantastic evening of
learning about and tasting wine from Spain’s grower Cavas. We’ll enjoy 7
wines that show the top tier of quality from this under appreciated
region. $25 per person. Reservations required.
May 18 Guiseppe Quintarelli 7pm - Finally, the tasting I’m very excited
about – Guiseppe Quintarelli is one of the legends of the wine world for
his Amarone. His legendary status makes his wines exceptionally rare
and expensive. So rare in fact that, I have never actually gotten to
taste any of his wines. I finally managed get my hands on some of his
wines and I thought what better to do than open them! For a full
description of the winery and wines have a look: http://kermitlynch.com/our_wines/quintarelli/
I’m going to open 8 of his wines. This tasting is limited to 12
people. Its $185 per person, and should be nothing short of profound.
Reservations are required and must be held with a credit card. 48 hour
cancellation notice is required, tickets are transferable. Here’s the list of what I’ll be opening
along with the retail prices:

June 7 Summer Sippers 6:30pm – Summer is a time for relaxing, enjoying
the weather, backyard cookouts, and spending time with friends. For
some reason, many people think of beer for these activities. Wine is
awesome during summer! Come enjoy my picks for summer as well as some
tips for helping you get the most out of your wine during the warm
months. I realize few people want to spend a lot on summer drinking, so
all these wines will be a deal. The tasting is only $10 for 7 tasty
wines. Reservations required.
June 22 Coastal Wines 6:30pm – Many of my favorite wine regions are
very close to an ocean or sea. After years of comparing inland wines to
coastal wines, I believe there are some distinct characteristics that
the coastal wines have in common. Join me and taste coastal wines from
around the world and see if you agree. $25 per person. Reservations
required.
